ARTIST - ANNE GREEN
ARTIST STATEMENT
Color, texture, atmosphere, depth and the interplay of light; I take what I see and explore it in an ever-changing process of visual notation. I translate aspects of nature and my relationship to it through paint to allow me to connect and experience it in a deeper, more intimate and personal way. My work in not intended as a representation of the natural world but rather as abstractions of the invisible forces that shape the natural world. I'm drawn to complexities - layers of light and shadow, repetition of forms and patterns, contrasts and forces that push and pull at each other. Painting draws me deeper into the experience and as I work on them a new relationship is created that is not only based on the original inspiration but about the act of painting itself.
